University of Naples L’Orientale

The "Orientale" University of Naples is the oldest school of Sinology and Oriental Studies in Europe. It has a strong tradition of language, cultural and social studies, both ancient and modern, relating to Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The Department of Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies promotes research, education, and the spread of knowledge in a considerable number of foreign languages and literature. The Department is characterized by its high level of interdisciplinarity and international outlook in both teaching and research and by its engagement with the Local Communities through initiatives responding to the context and its social needs, or through the collaborative organization of exhibitions and theatrical performances, and information events aimed at different types of audiences. Their role in the consortium is the coordinated action on the field, easing the integration of foreign students into the fieldwork.


Comune di Frigento 

Partner - Local Public body  - Frigento (IT)

Frigento is a beautiful rural town located in the province of Avellino, in the Campania region. It is a small hill town (910 m a.s.l) lying on a ridge lying NW - SE that forms the watershed between the hydrographic basin of the River Ufita to the north-east and that of River Calore to the south-west (Fig. 1). Its population counts about 4,100 inhabitants spread over an area of 37.75 square kilometres. Its recovery and restoration after the earthquake in the '80s helped to preserve many buildings, fountains, a marvellous belvedere, amongst other features that make it a beautiful old town. Frigento is member of the “Unione dei Comuni – Terre dell’Ufita” and has an industrial area with Agroindustrial SMEs, such as Le Farine magiche, M.F.C., Cerealitalia and others. The municipality of Frigento served as the start of KINESIS; the city hosted the first student of the Alliance. Their role in the consortium is to be the physical headquarters of KINESIS, hosting the fieldwork of foreign students while enhancing the involvement of the local community.


Istituto di Istruzione Superiore Statale Grottaminarda 
 

Partner  - School/Institute/Educational centre – Vocational Training (secondary level) - Grottaminarda (IT)

The school is located in Grottaminarda, a small town of about 9.000 inhabitants, in Campania, Southern Italy. It currently runs with 108 teachers and 720 students who can choose among different courses: electronics, administration finance and marketing, tourism, art, and foreign languages. In addition to the daily teaching activities, the school is involved in many different projects: language and computer examinations, competitions in mathematics and sciences, art, and sports events. Particularly relevant is their latest school-net project, "FabLab Irpinia."; authorized by the Italian Ministry of Education to promote new territorial laboratories for employability in the next ten years. Open innovation will be the keyword of the new laboratories, aiming at the close cooperation between the schools involved and local private/public institutions, universities, research centres, and local enterprises. Their role in the consortium is to bridge the multicultural and transgenerational gap enabling inclusive learning environments for local and foreign students..


Stichting Group for European Development

Partner - Non-governmental organisation/association - Amsterdam (NL)

Stichting Group for European Development is a foundation focused on organizing internships and research for students and learners, mapping for project areas. Both director and board members have an extended background in linking education to the labour market in an international setting, from vocational education to academic level. Student programs for internships and research are well developed in the Netherlands. GED offers a holistic program, so learning will be enhanced because students will work in mixed teams on real-life cases. Based on their experience in similar programs in other countries, their role in the consortium is to design and oversee the internship program implementation while managing the knowledge transfer concerning the networking between students, the labor market, and the other international partners.


Stichting Hanzehogeschool Groningen

Partner - Higher education institution (tertiary level) - Groningen (NL)

Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen is the largest technical & vocational university in the northern Netherlands and is located in Groningen. The university counts approximately 28,000 students and 3,300 employees. HUAS trains professionals in more than 70-degree programs (54 bachelors and 19 masters), harbours 99 PhD-students, and 50 professors. Its main research focus is on entrepreneurship, energy, and healthy ageing. Research is carried out in six multidisciplinary research centres. One of these centres is Kenniscentrum NoordeRuimte, an interdisciplinary research hub that looks at the built environment from different perspectives. Within this research hub, the research group Living Environment in Transition looks at demographic changes, co-creation, civilians' participation, and sustainable regional development. Their role in the consortium is to carry out local research in the region concerning rural depopulation and rural development to foster knowledge and best practices exchange.


Universidad de Navarra

Partner  - Higher education institution (tertiary level) - Pamplona (E)

UNAV is currently ranked as the best private university in Spain. It has around 12,000 students on its 6 campuses - Pamplona, San Sebastián, Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, and New York, offering 35 official degrees, 13 dual degrees, and more than 38 master's programs. It currently accounts for 14 faculties, 2 university schools, 17 institutes, IESE (International Graduate School of Management), ISSA (Superior Institute of Secretarial and Administrative Studies), and other centres and institutions. This school has close relations with the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), which conducts research into issues of social relevance. In particular, the GradUN project in Public Discourse, led by Ruth Breeze, has a consolidated publishing record and has participated in many research projects of social relevance on a national and international level, helpful in improving society and people's lives by participating in the discussions and actions taking place in the public sphere. This group is currently hosting two Marie Curie fellows as well as several Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers. Their role in the consortium is to carry out local research concerning initiatives to revitalize depopulated areas fostering knowledge and best practices exchange.


Tallinn University

Tallinn University (TLU) is a modern and dynamic research university in Estonia with a leading role in promoting an intelligent lifestyle through education, research, and a unique collaboration across disciplines. The Social Entrepreneurship MA study program (SEMA) is a progressive educational initiative of Tallinn University to promote entrepreneurship and the innovation of the social and health sector, environmental protection, urban development, rural development, and community development. It is the only international curriculum for Social Entrepreneurship in the Baltic region. The program follows the project-based learning method. Experienced staff members guide students through their learning process in a very practice-oriented way using the academic and creative infrastructure of the university for both academic learning and project development. Through their social entrepreneurship summer school, Tallinn University's role in the consortium is to provide mentorship for the students concerning social business.


Fondazione Ampioraggio

Ampioraggio Foundation is an Italian ecosystem network of 250 actors in innovation, including enterprises, start-ups, investors, public bodies, and research centres. The foundation aims to fill the gap in the Italian market between the supply and demand of innovation in small and medium enterprises, using a model named "slow dating for innovation." In this way, Ampioraggio hopes to overcome the delay in the competitive development of Italian companies. Through their expertise, the foundation's role in the consortium is the local management of co-participation tables while enhancing knowledge exchange concerning living labs.


ATI Biotech srl

Partner - Small and medium-sized enterprise - Naples (IT)

ATI Biotech is an innovative start-up engaged in the research and production of microalgae and, ultimately, biomaterials extracted from microalgae. The company is involved in the production and development of new technologies and production processes in microalgae cultivation. ATI Biotech has established direct relationships with Italian and foreign universities to develop R & D activities, participating in projects funded and internship programs. In 2016 ATI Biotech launched the new NACE code 22.03 to begin production of microalgae in aquaculture. In 2017 ATI Biotech obtained a bank loan to complete and plant the start of output of Castel Baronia (AV) to begin production and sale of microalgae spirulina. As educational partners, their role in the consortium is to host academic students for research development, aiming to become role model in the region.


Colli Frigentini s.c.a.r.l.

Partner - Small and medium sized enterprise - Frigento (IT)

Colli Frigentini s.c.a.r.l. is a company located in Frigento. Established in 2004 by 5 founders who believed agriculture and high-quality productions could differentiate Irpinia's branding. The firm produces fine DOP (Denominazione di origine protetta) and IGP (Indicazione geografica protetta) wines contributing to the promotion of Frigento and its products, employing only local manpower. Through their local network and expertise, Colli Frigentini’s role in the consortium is to provide academic students with research opportunities in the field of local agricultural practices.


Consorzio Stabile GLOSSA

TThe Consorzio Glossa is a non-profit body, established in 1996 by the Università di Napoli Federico II and by the SELFIN SpA (IBM group), to develop research activities finalized in the application of computer technologies in the human sciences sector. As per statute, the consortium's primary goal is to carry out research activities applied to the field of information technologies and of advanced network technologies, finalized towards identifying methods and production of cutting edge information solutions, with particular reference to the sectors of cataloging, preservation, and use of cultural and environmental assets, of tourist promotion, environmental protection and planning of the territory, of multimedia and e-publishing, of computer "aided" translations. Their role in the consortium is to carry out research activities in information technologies, enabling cutting-edge informatics solutions to local needs.


Stichting Werken & Leren

Partner - Non-governmental organisation/association - Middelburg (NL)

Stichting Werken & Leren develops projects in the social domain. Change, movement, and innovation are crucial elements - the values of the 2 project managers and volunteers. The foundation mainly works with social partners such as healthcare organizations, schools, NGOs, and volunteering projects. The aim is to create projects with a strong influence on working and learning, looking for opportunities in the working field and educational areas, care, and well-being. The foundation helps with training, preferably towards self-support in living, learning, and working. It currently runs projects of work and education inside and outside the Netherlands and is located in Middelburg (South West of Netherlands), one of the four shrinking areas of Netherlands. Their role in the consortium is to provide knowledge transfer on entrepreneurial skills for local partners and students through their expertise in monitoring and evaluation of international and educational projects.


Harz University of Applied Sciences (HSH)

Partner -Higher education institution (tertiary level) - Wernigerode  (D)

HSH is located in two cities within the Harz region in the heart of Germany. It follows a service and practice-oriented research strategy with regional added value and an international network that relies on its three departments. The Department of Automation and Computer Sciences combines degree programs focused on engineering and computer sciences at HSH. The modern educational concept is geared to the needs of industry, administration, and service companies, where Computer Science knowledge is indispensable. The educational concept has been significantly shaped by the far-reaching development of the Internet and its manifold possibilities. Therefore, Internet technology is of particular significance within the Computer Science degree program of the Department of Automation and Computer Sciences. Their role in the consortium is to carry out local research on rural depopulation and revitalization practices.
